Columbia’s First Deported Hamas Supporter

Mahmoud Khalil is a ringleader of the antisemitic chaos at Columbia University. Khalil and CUAD have been at the forefront of chaotic and at times violent campus protests at Columbia University and Barnard College dating back to at least last spring, which have resulted in injuries, damage to buildings and have struck fear into the hearts of Jewish students and faculty.

Khalil played a key role as the lead negotiator for the Columbia University Apartheid Divest. CUAD backs “‘armed resistance’ by Hamas,” according to The New York Times. The group withdrew an apology it made on behalf of a member who said “Zionists don’t deserve to live” and “[b]e grateful that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists.”

Khalil is now the first student activist to have his green card or student visa revoked, and deported by ICE. Secretary of State Marco Rubio doubled down in support of Khalil’s arrest, writing on X, “We will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported.”

Mahmoud Khalil acted as a spokesperson for the Hamilton Hall and Milstein Hall occupations at Columbia University and distributed materials supporting terrorism.

Columbia University coddled Khalil for over a year – suspending and unsuspending him – excusing the chaos and fear he invited to campus. He responded to their ridiculous negotiations with more and more demands.

Khalil’s supporters report that he “recently graduated” but was still active conducting protests on the Barnard campus. He knew he did not belong on campus but chose to sneak in to wreak havoc on students.

Mahmoud Khalil has faced no consequences for his actions until now, after a year of abusing his privileges as a student of Columbia University. It took ICE, a federal agency, to take real action.
